To celebrate a prestigious year in Albano Jerónimo’s career, highlighted by his Golden Globe award for Best Film Actor, André Opticas and the Portuguese actor joined forces to create a unique, handmade, bespoke pair of glasses, crafted to measure in the brand’s Atelier in the heart of Chiado.
Guided by strong values and the highest quality standards, the renowned Portuguese brand André Opticas stands out for its ongoing investment in professional training, ensuring the best possible service for all its clients, with whom it aims to build close, lasting relationships.
This collaboration is a testament to that philosophy. From client to friend, Albano Jerónimo has developed a close and trusting relationship with André Opticas over the years. To celebrate and support the actor at this pinnacle of his career, the brand dedicated itself to the handcrafted creation of an exclusive model: Mr. A.J..
“In the constant pursuit of excellence and support for the arts, our atelier has developed the Mr. A.J. model.
Designed, crafted, and developed exclusively for actor Albano Jerónimo, celebrating a remarkable year in his career, marked by his nomination in two categories at the prestigious Gala dos Globos de Ouro.” – André Leal
Mr. A.J. is a piece born from exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail, where the layering of black and crystal acetates adds a three-dimensional quality to the design. The gold temples, featuring the Family Affair emblem—the bespoke eyewear brand that lends its name to André Opticas’ unique creations—serve as a detail that reflects the shared values between the artist and the brand: always keeping in mind those who are important to us and who enable us to achieve our personal and professional goals.
Finally, the gradient lenses were custom-made in a purple shade, with the colour intensity ranging from 75% to 10%. This hue was created as a special tribute, as it is associated with avidity, greed, and intensity—values highlighted in his role in the series El Presidente—as well as madness, confusion, danger, and complexity—referencing his role in the film Restos do Vento; a clear homage to the roles the actor portrayed in the films that led to his Golden Globe nominations.
In a model that pays tribute to the 7th art, the iconic glasses worn by Robert De Niro in Casino (Martin Scorsese, 1995) and Elliott Gould in Ocean’s 11 (Steven Soderbergh, 2001) inspired André Leal to design this piece, where irreverence and tradition come together to create a work that will indelibly mark this prestigious chapter in the life of actor Albano Jerónimo.
Thus, Mr. A.J. not only reflects his distinctive personality but also the brilliance of an unparalleled career that deserves to be celebrated and immortalized with a model inspired by the 7th Art.
